That sounds rather elitist.


Remember it was an American author writing for an American audience. If religion doesn't figure in somewhere in the equation, then it can't be good.

From what I saw there was little emphasis on religion and more on socializing. The work ethic follows the sense that their success is a comunity sucess and not an individual one, which after all is the basis of socialism.

Yes, I seen it in some places here in the US.......MN, WI, WA, ND and SD etc and esp. in the Amish communities.
