That's what I argued on this board before the last Presidential election.

Even the combination of a brain-dead Kerry with a not-all-that-sharp solid Republican Congress would likely have given us better results then letting EITHER Party have the whole ball o'wax.

The ability to shovel pork out the door by the barrel load would have been short-circuited by the gridlock between the Parties... the most extreme actions by either bunch would have been non-starters... and there would have been a greater chance for responsible, prudent actions to have been taken, because only consensus would have been able to get anything through.

Not perfect, not by a long shot... but still better then letting any one bunch of pigs feed at the trouth unobstructed.
