I thought the whole event came off as staged, and kind of badly staged. There was so few spontaneous elements to it, the pauses didn't have that look of "gee, I have to think about what I was asked." It was more like "Oh, it's my turn on that prepared question. Where is the mike"> I would have liked to see a few more enlisted and maybe some opportunity for real give and take.

GWB didn't look very comfortable either, IMO>

This type of video conference nearly always has a scripting. The agenda or area of questioning and response, who will address the specific issue and how long the conference will go.

This is nothing new.
It is done on every NASA shuttle operation.
It is done on every major aircraft accident with NTSB and the FAA.
It is is done on major crime investigations.
Corporations who use video conferencing do it.
It is even done on many financial network shows.
It is done on damn near everything.
NBC, ABC and CBS do it every night prior to the evening news so they can best present their "gotchas".

I doubt if there has been an administration in the last twenty years or so who have not done the same thing. We know clinton did it frequently. Not only did his staff (stephannoupolis etc.) do it for them, but he and his wife also used their Hollywood friends to enhance (read script) their message and presentations.

The MSM is in deeper trouble than I thought if this is the best they can do when the President holds a video conference with the troops.
