Re: "Well, if you package a Balanced Budget Amendment with Term Limitations and some type of Voter Responsability Law, then you got my vote. Add to it Tax Simplification, preferably a flat tax or VAT then you got my enthusiasm. jdn"

How about a Balanced Budget amendment to the Constitution (which then forces the political will to enact drastic tax simplification and a flat rate system)?

I am strongly for *both*.

But, if you insist on demanding that the above two reforms CAN'T happen unless, *simultaneously*, the constitution is amended to install 'term limits' and some kind of crappy 'voter responsibility' rule that moves us back to only property owners having the right to vote, or some such, then what you are doing is PROVIDING A GUARANTEE THAT NO REFORM WILL HAPPEN AT ALL... that there will be no flat tax, no simplification, and no balanced budget. You are killing the reforms with a poison pill.

In that case, I'd have to believe that you were secretly working in opposition to those laudable goals... and were throwing up impossible roadblocks to keep them for ever happening.

... And that you actually must LIKE an over-weaning, over-large, deficit-financed Big Daddy government... and complicated, crappy, high taxes with special loopholes for the special interests.
