I didn't see it for the first time till 1997 -- i wasn't even born in 1976! But I have it on DVD and have watched it a few times since. It's such a great movie.

While Chayefsky was out in front, the trend was already in place. Cronkite and the others were the only thing that was holding back the sensationalization of national news, many local stations were already going down that road.
