I saw the movie, And the Debbie Schlusse analysis is a reasonable and accurate interpretation of a theme of the movie. A side theme is Dirty Harry, a boxing trainer is Catholic and goes to daily Mass. I guess that's possible. But the setup is to make the idea of killing a fully conscious paralyzed individual a moral act. The movie does say, it is moral to kill them because that is what they want as the suffering is too horrible. It is far easier to kill than to be there every day to support and give comfort.
