I never understand why most blogs don't set up for emails........too costly? too much of a hassle? I get e-mails on occasion -- if you click on "Contact Me," an e-mail is sent to me. I'm not sure what you mean about other blogs not doing it. Most seem to. The site got 700 visits from about 250 visitors in September. That's not bad. They're from all of the country, too. >BTW I read the article on Central Avenue. Does that street feed into downtown? Is its decline due to the fact it runs through minority neighborhoods? I think I told you that earlier this year I was reading the web page of a guy who had just graduated from SU.......and I was surprised how much the city has declined since I was there. Is Albany, in general, experiencing a similar decline.........or is Central Avenue an aberration? Only the bottom of it runs into downtown, but downtown has been doing very well the last few years. The problem is that it's mostly old-fashioned commercial area, which has been made obsolete by the fact that there are an obscene number of malls in the area, none of which are in Albany proper. The city hasn't gotten around to doing anything about it, but I hope it will... even when i was a kid, it was the place to go to shop. It does, however, have more car dealerships per square mile than anywhere else in the country. >You're Mr. Sportsman..........what was the issue over the Pierzinski [sp?] hit this past week? I didn't see the game and I couldn't follow the story that was written......it got too convoluted and I didn't have the time to figure out what they were saying. Not a big deal but just curious if you knew what was the problem. I was watching the game... you know how if a catcher drops the third strike or it's in the dirt, then the hitter can go to first base unless he's tagged or thrown out? Well, with two out in the ninth, Kelvim Escobar, the pitcher for the Angels, threw a pitch that was low, but Josh Paul, the catcher caught it before it hit the ground. The umpire signaled that the batter, AJ Piersinski, was out, and Piersinski turned around to walk to the dugout and then, a catcher himself, decided to give it a shot and go to first base... the umpire wavered on his call and the rest is history! >I just found out the tech course I take next quarter will teach us how to set up a web page. Never done that before so am looking forward to it. It took me half an hour to learn in high school... it's easy. -Z
