The liquidity in the bonds would be very very poor. And without a good investment banking connection one would be beaten up big time on the bid ask spread.

If one was able to buy them, it would probably be because they are only going to go down.

The Hunt's most famous episode was their attempt to corner the Silver Market back in 1980. The regulators ultimately forbid any new positions to be established in Silver. Only existing positions could be liquidated.

speaking of 1987. I was outside of the NYSE on Friday the 16th of Oct. and then Tuesday the 20th of Oct. It was amazing the whole sea of cameraman, news trucks, bystanders and other assorted humanity that was massed all around Broad and Wall.

It was night and day on that Tuesday the 20th compared to the preceding Friday.
