If we can digress for a moment to sport, which is a very different area, the Chinese efforts are pretty amazing.
The technique that they have developed in several sports is the best. Now that may sound trite, except sports like gymnastics, diving are very technical. They have thought out and advanced technique in those sports They keep showing the best technique in the world, and make everyone else look like hackers.
This requires a lot of sophistication...now apply this to any other field and it will eventually be very tough competition.
