She just screwed up (IMHO)... the caddie should have been watching out for her. A couple of inches is nothing.

A $50K mistake, I bet she won't do it again!

I don't think she intentionally cheated. She probably thought her drop was ok, and would be accepted. From what I understand, it was somewhere between 3" and 1' closer to the pin, and that was the cause of the disqualification. I think she learned she should hold up play until a tournament official is present, for her own sake, as well as that her competitors may use any technicality to defeat her. Her days of being a prodigy princess are over.
