The thread will flame me for saying this again, but I think it's pretty clear that oil prices have caused inflation, which has cause the Fed to continue to raise rates. All of that has conspired to put a lid on stocks this year. Over the next 5 years, we'll start to get slack in supply again and that will bring oil prices back down, which will bring all prices back down, giving the stock market breathing room again.

I'm not surprised at all, when the market is bad (which it is)- Merrill accounts are going to perform poorly. The only question is whether people should stay in the market or not, many want out (and are out)... my parents left the stock market in the 70s and here we are again, a 70s market.
