The 70's were largely caused by a supply side oil shock, which led to spiralling inflation. The 2000's thus far have been caused by the bursting of the 90's overspeculation and a demand side oil shock. Our Fed is alot smarter than they were in the 70's, because they have a lot more experience on how to deal with inflation. If you are betting that this decade will be a repeat of the 70's, then you might be disappointed. Oil can still damage the economy, but it won't cause quite the damage it did in the 70's.
