There is nothing new there, save that the writer makes useless points like "Bush has never acknowledged the fact that when his father was Vice-president in Ronald Reagan's White House, Washington was aggressively arming both Iran and Iraq."

Let's just say, you see, that it is safe to say that Bush knows this since it is no secret, is well known, not hidden, and acknowledged. While the writer says "the (Iran/Iraq) war is seldom talked about), it in fact is talked about and noted quite often enough, IMHO. It simply doesn't impact upon our considered decision to fight terrorism through democratizing Iraq.

The writer provides the LA Times note indicating that Iraq had other sources to purchase Helicoptors from, but fails to consider this when leaving the therefore false impression that Saddam couldn't have gassed Kurds without our allowed Helicoptor sale to them.

Do you know how many times this irrelevant stuff (none of it changes the current appropriate response) has been posted?

The author notes the Iran-Iraq war bloodiness and deathtoll, but fails to ask "would we prefer Iran would have won over Iraq?"
