You are one of those people that believes the market should set rates and where there is no central governing banking authority? Wow! I guess you haven't read your economic history books. I, nor many other Americans, would like to live in a world where the Great Depression can occur again. The idea of the Fed is to have steady growth and to avoid the roller coaster. They have been remarkably successful over the last two decades. I'd love to see the next two decades be a repeat of the last two.
