I've noticed that when people talk about the war most of them haven't sent a child or a spouse or a dear neighbor over there. They haven't heard first hand how horrible it is on the ground. When the soldiers are interviewed they must be upbeat. They must support the mission. As far as I am concerned no one has told the truth about how awful it is and no one is showing the people who survive with horrible injuries and sometimes no support from the military who sent them there. The Guard have people from a large area that serve together and if a unit is sent to Iraq there may be people from ten or twelve towns involved, no big concentration from one town so the pain is felt by individuals and not by the whole community. I have seen no sacrifices made by the general population. If your loved ones aren't involved you're not too concerned. Generally speaking. The people who beat the drums of war aren't doing the marching. And no the Iraqis are not prepared to fight for freedom, they weren't when we went in and they aren't now.
