OT: that's good. you are set! i did not mind those 'canes the first year, but after several false alarms in year two it started getting a bit much for me.

yes, singapore is humid, but it's even worse when they burn the jungle/forests in sumatra to clear land for farming. the smoke in singapore becomes unbearable then. also once on singapore airlines in singapore i got on a non-serviceable 747 flight for los angeles. so they moved us to another 747 there, and we sat in that plane for about 2.5 hours with the doors open and no air conditioning. talk about humidity/heat and drinking lots of water.

OT/I live in Encinitas in a small house I bought over 5 years ago and have totally remodelled 128 steps above the beach. Near Moonlight Beach. Love this area....though I grew up in Newport Beach on 42nd St a half block from popular surfing spot.

I'm sure during your Asian travels you've been to S'Pore - that's real humidity

Yep, I ran the Singapore Marathon about 25 years ago. Race began at midnight (I recollect) but it was painful. Even tho Singapore is flat as a pancake, it was uphill all the way. It was an out-and-back, and I remember thinking - cool, it'll be downhill on the way back. Wrong, it just got worse.

When I came back from jogging, I had to stay in the air conditioned hotel room for 1/2hour, unless I didn't mind going to my first meeting in a sweat-encaked suit.
