True.

But I did see a study from Scandinavia that showed even with access to health care, and even where disability as a reason for retirement was factored out, retirement still had an impact on mortality odds. Do you remember the ranking of stress points - I can't remember what it was now (I looked it up- turns out it is the Holmes-Rahe Scale ), but it gave you life stress points, and then calculated your increased risk of death or injury. Retirement was right up their with being fired.
