Back to the issue of Saddam and the US: I'm sure the CIA approved of a lot of thugs killing Communists back in the cold war days. Saying Saddam was one is not the same as saying we "created him" or put him in power. I also know we supplied intel data to Iraq to prevent an Iranian victory. That doesn't make Saddam into an American puppet either.
