That makes perfects sense. Putin in his own nation partly run by the government and partly run by Vorovskoy Mir (thieves world) is trying to bring accountability to the government and society and eliminate the influence of the thieves. Accountability is far more important than the type of government.

One need look no further than Italy whose democracy has produced a chaos of something like 65 governments in 45 years, to realize that democracy by itself means little.

With advice like this, "Treasury Secretary John W. Snow, urged China on Thursday to take lessons from the United States on how to spend more, borrow more and save less," I should imagine that ignoring U.S. advice and hectoring would be fairly easy.
