To recap: We helped confirm John Roberts as the new Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. We helped put Priscilla Owen and Janice Rogers Brown on the US Circuit Court of Appeals, even though Senate liberals like Teddy Kennedy and Chuck Schumer swore they would never be confirmed... ...while Republicans retained the Constitutional Option to use in the future to break the filibuster of judicial nominees by Senate Democrats. Now the President has nominated Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court. Miers has pledged to strictly interpret the law and not legislate from the bench.
