I can envision reading an announcement from somebody or other that they have bought X% of ECA "for investment purposes" as a means of hedging their NG requirements

Is the logic "if NG price rises, ECA stock price rises and offsets/makesupfor the NG price increase?".

If that is correct, I wonder how the NG price rise would relate to req'd share puchase (total$ invested)?

Basically I'm asking whether the investment rational could be justified?
I have no idea, just asking. I appreciate the interesting theory though.
