They are unsustainable at the current levels. However, every society makes a decision as to where it wants to spend its resources and farm subsidies in Switzerland are part of an environmental and lifestyle investment and in in terms of food supply an investment in health. The U.S. decided to spend a large portion of its tax revenues on its military, I much prefer where the Swiss spend it.
