Seeing as there are very different views on what is good and what is evil, your "no one should ever settle" attitude doesn't leave much room for tolerance. Some people think cats are evil, some think alcohol is evil, some pot is evil, some abortion is evil.

How do you resolve the conflicts if no one ever "settles"?

<IMHO, "settling", or tolerance, is the basic building block of society>.

Tenchy! Really! When someone cuts you off in an aggressive assholish manner on the freeway (although it's probably YOU doing this), do you force him to the shoulder and demand an apology or an explanation? If it's insufficient do you punish the offender? If not, you accept some gray.
