When I lived in California, a new scratch-off game had just begun and I bought $5 worth. The first one I scratched was a $500 winner! I should have quit then, but stupid is as stupid does. I figured out that during the first 5 years of the CA lottery, I spent an average of about $150/month or $1800/ year. Won a little, but never what I spent. AT least I was able to offset on income tax what little I won with the losings. Ain't rationalization wonderful?
