U.S. Industry should behave responsibly, but in my view that is required by law these days.

I'll drive by Lake Coeur d'Alene and Kellogg tomorrow. When I was a kid, the lake was choked with floating debris; now it is clear. Kellogg had a stream going by that was so foul they called it Shit Creek, and the trees were killed for miles by fumes from the smelter. Now the stream is clear and the trees are regrowing and there is a tram for tourists to see the sights.

We need environmental laws, and we have them. We don't need frantic and unreasonable lawsuits by environmentalist organizations whose main aim is self-preservation.
