Now, what is the definition of "is" again? "Sexual relations" does NOT include Bill and Monica's activities. It says those nosy Italians couldn't run a Roman Empire, don't know anything about China and like everyone else, can take a running jump. Precisely, concisely and nicely. Decades ago, my father [peace be upon him] pointed out to me that some of the rudest people are most polite. Their actual words are fine, but the meaning, tone and intent behind those words are not. The meaning is what matters. Words, as you know, are slippery little guys, who have layer on layer of meaning, with allusion, allegory and allegation. The literal meaning of question marks is sometimes nothing but an invitation to think, or perhaps a comment that the person being asked is a moron. The person making the statement should be the one to define what they mean as the readers do, even with the best will in the world, get it wrong. Perhaps because the writer was clumsy and didn't realize what twisted minds would do to their words. Or perhaps the writer merely thought they were writing something but wrote something which meant something else, depending on the reading. They were your words, so what you meant is up to you do decide. But since my understanding was wrong, I am now left that the words were meaningless. I wonder what you really meant? Of course some people simply lie, distort, deceive, are hypocritical and their words have no meaning though the words remain a window into their minds. I had a boss once who I swear felt uncomfortable simply telling the unvarnished truth. He had to always have an angle on the words, to manipulate the mind of the receiver. Words were used to create a false reality so the listener would get an idea suitable to my boss. It's all a lot of fun. Damn Romans, still causing trouble 2000 years after they were rampant. Sticking their nose into China, which they haven't reformed. Mqurice
