Did Japanese buy lots of shiny metal 14 years ago? Homes actually have USE, fundamental USE unlike dust collector shiny metal - Home keep the rain off me and the bugs out, get my mail sent there, have internet hookup and tv cable hookup, have toilet and clothes machine and refrigerator - have bed for me to sleep - shower for me to wash off stink - some HOMES like Jacks even have pool and close to hospital - you cant say that about shiny metal can you? I bet richest kings and rulers of just a few generations back give all thier gold for the modern convenience in nice modern houses. I tell you what - I give you 5 pounds of gold but you never live under a roof again - you live out exposed to the elements - is that good trade? So you have no credit card, bank account, stock account, you do everything CASH only - I don't believe that el mat! You already give lots of trust to the "SYSTEM" and the men and computers and machines and magic wi fi type stuff that bring it all together. You TRUST man and machines for COMPUTER BIRD FLU simulation and thier vaccine but NOT for finance? HUH???? Imagine if instead of getting a promise of a pension, the guy would have got from the age of 22 when he started to the age of 60, a coin of gold? Prefferably I would rather have house with well stocked wine cellar or XOM stock over shiny metal for my retirement - maybe some tech companies thrown in for fun too. SURPRISE - I left fortune 5 company and their promise of the pension (that I did not believe in) and started investing in real estate in country with strong property rights laws and many men with guns and right mindset to back that up - do not blame COMPANY - blame silly human that TRUSTED LIES and chose not to see world with his own 2 EYES. He was given same choice as me - believe impossible lies of company unfunded pension in dynamic world or believe in himself. I walk over to Mcdonalds with gold coin - Mam - can I buy hamburger with gold coin so I dont starve to death - sorry we only take Monopoly instant win gamepieces or Master Card. Damn! I walk over to gas station attendant - can I pay for this oil with shiny metal so I can bail this loser country that does not take gold coins and go be with el mat? Who will show me all the businesses and services I can use gold coins with back home in brazil - sorry bub - we only take PLASTIC - stick your card in that slot by the gas tank and punch in your PIN number and quit bugging me. I walk over to farmer that has chicken and I am starving - will you take my gold coin for your chicken farmer - naw boy - I cant eat that - but I will trade you my chicken for them packs of smokes you got son. Me too - now lets say I am 60 years old and have gold coin in one hand, gameboy in another, crack rock in another, chicken in another (no bird flu) and bottle of whiskey in the last - and I walk over to Jack Chen and El Mats house. (assume I am like many armed hindu god) We are all very bored and hungry - now I can give chicken to el mats daughter to cook up and make us nice FEAST (she can slaughter and defeather a chicken right?) - and I can open whiskey for us all to have nice drink - then I give coconut Gameboy - and the thugs crack rock to not shoot us and we eat, drink, be merry playing game boy - and what came of the gold - I hide it over in the hole in the ground with all the other junk. When is the last time you bought something with GOLD? Gold has no USEFUL value other than you THINK it will protect your store of lifetime of work - but that is a MIRAGE and u just say that you no like MIRAGE. El Mat hungry next week - he at free china's house - he want a chicken to eat - free china wont take gold coin - what el mat gonna do? Now another day I come over to jack chen and el mats house - we are all hungry and bored and all I have is this big lump of shiny metal in my pocket - WHEE what fun - quit being silly El Mat. Gold or a NICE HOUSE - I will take the nice house any day - I can USE the house - the gold only have VALUE if some other sucker give me HOUSE I NEED in exchange for it - gold require suckers with certain mindset to be useful - house useful to me wether there sucker goldbugs or not.
