The Liberal Party in Canada is a middle of the road party that has been in power more than any other.

The leadership of that party stresses that the WELFARE OF THE CANADIAN PEOPLE is their main reason for existence. However, because they are in power most of the time, the corporate community do their best to influence things, contributing heavily etc.

The Socialist party of the left characterizes the Liberals as being puppets of big business, which is slightly but only partially true.

The party of the Right contains many of the same elements that the GOP does in the U.S.A.

So 2 of the 3 parties avowedly have the WELFARE OF THE PEOPLE
as their stated aim. At least that gives the ordinary man in the street half a chance.

The Democrats of Franklin Roosevelt's time were people who felt they HAD to do something for the ordinary man. But that has progressively been eroded by the influence of big money over time.

The Green Party theoretically could be an influence that would force the reorientation back to the welfare of the people. But so far the Greens have been a total bust.

Who in the Democrats is out there saying I WILL ADDRESS THE WELFARE OF THE PEOPLE, FIRST, LAST AND ALWAYS AND IF THAT MEANS WE HAVE SCHOOLS AND UNIVERSITIES AND HEALTH INSURANCE INSTEAD OF A RIDICULOUS EMPIRE THAT GOBBLES UP ALL THE RESOURCES, THEN THAT IS HOW IT WILL BE.

SINCE WHEN IS IT UNFASHIONABLE TO BE ON THE SIDE OF LIFE AND HUMANITY RATHER THAN DEATH AND DESTRUCTION?
Namaste!

Jim

What this country needs is complete election finance reform so candidates do not have to kowtow to special interests with big money--whether they are big corporations or labor unions. Why in the world do we allow anyone but individual registered voters to give money to candidates or political parties?
