< Doesn't look that way to me...>

Since the topic here is what kind of 'god' we believe there to be... and the last couple posts have brought us to finding out what our overall context on the topic is... why don't we start with that. IMO god would necessarily be:

1.) By definition be all about love, compassion (the higher emotions}, peace, Truth, etc.

2.) In accord with all proven science {with the caveate that there is actually much accepted science that may turn out to be not what it appears right now}.

3.) God, by definition then, would be or at least include the unified field and all manifestation in it since it {god} would be omnipresent and include & be everything.

4.) As descibed in 3 and by all the major religions... god would be "the one", of which we would all be part... and not actually separate from each other {as described by all the mystics through history}.

Just a quick start... and an attempt to contextualize for you my ideas and therefore how I "cherry pick" {I prefer 'looking for essence'} the bible and other religious {buddhist, etc} teachings. I should also note that my input {in keeping with the thread header} is about 'god'... and not about any dogmatic following of 'religion', which has probably been part of where some confusion about many of my statements has been. After all, if there is a god, there is... it doesn't matter what we or any religion thinks.

Just trying to move in a positive direction...How about a quick recapitulation of your "god"?

DAK

"So.... you've got more experience and a larger or better context than mine to make 'judgements' about such things??"

That is not what I said.

I give REASONS for what I believe or don't. I JUSTIFY my beliefs. I have tried to get you to give us an organized position on whatever you believe. I have tried very hard to comprehend some coherency in your rambling posts. But you skate all over the place. You would not give a nickel for the Old Testament--but the words of Jesus (which you cannot justify or espouse) are (apparently) meaningful to you for some unknown reason. You skate over the 72 instances of the attributed beliefs of Jesus about "Hell".

You seem to agree that the OT is the mythology of a people and culture not unlike thousands of other such--but you skate around the new testament as if it had some "Holiness". But you don't tell us why or what. You just iterate...BWTFDIK.

Why don't you expound on that??
