We were the north Georgia branch of the family and there was a smaller group of the family that had left for south Georgia maybe 100 years ago. But early in the depression things got so bad down there that the whole family had to come back up north and spend a year or so with my grandparents (all in a big old house with a Confederate veteran and a widow of a veteran). But later in the 1930's the oldest son had gone to China are they were really raking in the money and buying up farms all over the place. Back in the early 1950's I would be sent down to south Georgia for a week or two every summer and the place was amazing, like Southfork without the oil wells. All bought with the China money.
