well, just today I was listening to NPR. They ran a story on classic car collecting ("investing"). These people in detroit love their classic cars.

Anyway the interviewees both said that they were burned in the tech stock bubble in the 90s, and lost essentially "all" their investment, so now, a physical investment like classic cars is very appealing to them.

I'm sure many here know the folly of "investing" in collectibles like this, they are not liquid and thats the big drawback. Appraisals are pretty useless if you ever have to sell, etc.

Anyway the moral of this is the sentiment towards tech stocks is really, without a doubt at an all time low imho. Institutions are in some tech stocks but thats it. Retail is OUT. And the few high priced stocks out there like Google are attracting naive retail shorts up the wazoo.

I don't know when this market will improve, but I think its a fairly safe bet that the bottom can't really fall out of tech stocks here. I looked at cisco mkt cap the other day and it was 100 billion- is that right, thread? Thats not much at all for all that is IOS and cisco. Especially since the company is still vibrant unlike msft, sun and some other prior "horsemen".
