Exactly...the "opposition" did nothing...again, and we lose... .But the indispensable enablers of war are the New Democrats and potential presidential nominees, Sens. Kerry, Edwards, Clinton, Biden, and Bayh. Fearful that Bush and Rove would use their refusal to authorize war in October 2002 to impeach Democrats' patriotism, they voted to give him a blank check for war. Six months later, Bush cashed it. The Democratic Senate could have slowed the stampede. And if it could not have stopped it, it might at least have gotten answers to crucial questions. How many troops would be needed? What was the probability of guerrilla war? What was our exit strategy? Instead, the Senate surrendered the war powers the Founding Fathers reserved for Congress to the president and abdicated its constitutional duty.

Rove hoodwinked the media into supporting Bush's rush to war. As for Democrats, only a few like Lieberman trusted Bush. Also, remember the invasion was not a bad thing. It was HOW it was all done, with all the lies and the rushing in and the unilaterialism and piss poor planning. That was where the big mistakes were made. Of course, careful planning may have made an invasion unnecessary. The good thing now is that the media knows they were hoodwinked and are angry about it and won't let it happen again. Same with Democrats and moderate Republicans.
