Saddam's already gone. Those fighting us aren't going to bring him back, and have no expectation or desire to do so. He's a non-factor, for two years now. Our not leaving makes the insurgents case that "Saddam removal" isn't what it was all about.

I realize that, I just think it would be interesting in the discussion of "what does the average Iraqi want?" to see whether the average Iraqi supports the events that have occurred in their country from pre-invasion to now.

They didn't have the option to pick and choose - actually, the didn't have the option on anything. It would be interesting to read whether they thought the combined (invasion+post invasion stabilization campaign) was "justified".
