I'm not sure I give that much credit to Poppy's administration. After all, he managed to go from a 90% popularity rating to losing the reelection bid.

I do think that the Republican cabal has managed to do one thing: use the power of government office to enrich themselves and their friends.

That is their one singular achievement and it's a pretty petty and ugly one at that.

It really gets better if you start digging into *why* Saddam was so pissed off of Kuwait and wanted to invade. That part of the history almost never gets analyzed. It really was not an irrational decision, but a bait that was set up for him before he even had that talk with April.
