We must occasionally take out a dictator. Like Milosovic or Mullah Omar or whomever's next. Saddam was on the list, just not at the top of the list. No connection to 9-11 and no recent atrocities. His atrocities were mostly back in the 80's when Reagan supported him.

Still Saddam was a major irritation and potential threat going forward. Unlike Kaddafi he had not made overtures to cooperate with the world. He was too defiant. If we had waited and done it carefully though we could have removed him without occupying the country.

BTW: there is one autocratic mis-leader we must take down next. His name is GW Bush. Starting with Cheney, Rove and DElay though.
