"This guy's funny... why would anyone care if he thought there was a god, Jesus or anything else?? There is no "burden of proof" unless you want proof!!" There has been a philosophical and scientific pursuit over many centuries to rationalize the existence (or not) of God and the spirit world. When an assertion can be "proved" in the scientific sense, then it may be accepted (at least temporarily) as reflecting reality. The importance of trying to comprehend reality is to justify how one ought to live and ought to act. If there is no basis for an assertion such as "God exists" or "unicorns have 746 eyes" then the assertion is rationally denied. This doesn't mean one cannot assert (or even believe) that "unicorns have 746 eyes". It just means that such an assertion may rationally be denied. Just appreciate that if all of us abandon rational and critical thought then we abandon science and logic and human progress. We cannot grow corn or build cars or do heart surgery if we place fancy over proof. So when he talks about "burden of proof", he means IF you wish to have your proposition considered in the community of critical thinkers and rational humans. He does not mean that you are literally "compelled" to justify your beliefs. But keep in mind that reality is a harsh teacher toward those whom have no respect for her. You step off a cliff it don't much matter to the universe whether or not you believe you are stepping into the air or having sex with a cloud. The universe will answer you.
