Time Magazine has rolled out a series of stories about oil and energy.

(Links to articles)
The leader: "How to Kick the Oil Habit"
"Why Hybrids are Hot"
"Fission Returns to Fashion"
"Coal is Back"
"The Fuel Miser in Chief"
"7 Cool New Ideas"
"How Green Can We Get?"
"It's the End of Oil / Oil Is Here to Stay"
Nothing much new here. The leader just says that we should have invested more heavily in research for alternative energy decades ago and these alternatives are coming too late to allow a smooth transition to the postpetroleum era.

The "It's the End of Oil / Oil Is Here to Stay" article is interesting. It's written by a peak oil guy, Kenneth Deffeyes with a response by a peak oil denier, Peter Huber. Peter Huber argues, the same as Mike Lynch on Radio Open Source, that there are many places that we can drill for oil, it's just that they are protected for the time being.
