Heap leaching of gold has only been a minor problem in Nevada, no matter what the New York Times says.

Of course, very little grows in Nevada, and there are few people outside of the 2 major 'urban' areas.

If you want to stop gold minning in the rest of the world, and only have gold mines operating in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, that would okay with, and I think the management of Newmont also. ;-)

Then we can put the world on a gold standard....

By the way, I am ticked off that the New York Times knows anyting, good, bad or indifferent, about the minning industry.
I would prefer they and their left leaning readers remain ignorant. Real world information can be found in the Wall Street Journal and Finnacial Times for those who need it ;-)
