Some games and hobbies enhance cardiovascular health, or hand-eye coordination, or social ties, or stimulate the intellect, or express aethetic function.

Watching people drive cars in a circle does none of that. I feel the same way about most spectator sports.

I also look down my nose at gambling.

One could argue that watching movies is a spectator sport, and I would agree except for the movies that teach us something about history, or humanity, or other cultures -- I guess I should just say "teach us something."

NASCAR teaches us nothing.
