Peter, don't I get a booby prize or something for being the 2000th post....... 2000 seems to be a key number for some, to me it's rather arbitrary.

Becker fails to discuss physical or emotional addiction. People who are already hooked will do anything to get their next high.

If you're an addict and you have a choice between taking the risk of going to a pusher and getting drugs that are cut with who knows what, not to mention the physical risk of dealing with a person that would push drugs or going to a clinic and being exposed to ways of getting out of your addiction while getting your fix which would you choose?

My biggest worry wouldn't be with dealing with existing addicts. The main problem would be how to keep from generating new abusers. If we make drug education mandatory starting at the elementary level a large portion of that problem would be contained if tobacco could be used as any guideline.
