Bushies don't get it on Iraq. Our presence there is the #1 recruiting tool for terrorists and insurgents there is. This statement by the RNC is downright wrong and dishonest. The fact is that Iraq is more dangerous now that it was two years ago. So obviously our presence has not settled things down. On the contrary. However, we must still leave a decent sized force nearby for emergencies, maybe 40,000 men, a la South Korea. But bring 100,000 home starting ASAP.

"The Republican National Committee argued that Kerry's plan to pull back troops would make American forces remaining in Iraq more vulnerable to insurgent strikes.

"John Kerry is either willing to endanger American forces on the ground or he really believes that ignoring the presence of terrorists is the best policy for the safety of America," said RNC spokeswoman Tracey Schmitt.
