Didn't happen in 2004, maybe 2006? Doing nothing would have been hugely more positive than the last 5 years of Bush. But you are right, it doesn't work from a political marketing perspective. Some of our best Presidents accomplished really mundane stuff... Eisenhower and the Interstate system are an example. The guys that want to change the world are the ones to watch out for... and the Neo's (and many other "super power" leaders that wanted to dominate the world) are the models for the decline of a society. It's interesting that, at least on this thread, Ten (second generation American?), Taro (non-American) and Elroy (lived 1/2 his life in other countries) are the big supporters of the war. Maybe those of us that are more generational "invested" in this country have a more critical and analytical perspective. We've got a deeper understanding of what America is all about, what we have to lose, and what it took to get where we are. Just a thought. John

Dems are very much getting their act together. If you watched Kerry on Fox tonight you saw a leader who has the right ideas and has had them from the beginning. You also saw a very good sport who didn't whine about being cheated and lied out of the White House, as Gore also was.
