Thanks. This team has been very special. Well balanced, no huge egos, everyone supportive of one another. Everyone made a contribution. I think that Cleveland's run was a wakeup call for the Sox. After the Sox swept them in that final series, I became confident that they could take it all. When Frank Thomas went down earlier in the year, there was a lot of pressure on the GM, Kenny Williams, to pick up a big bat. Ken Griffey was the prime candidate. I personally thought that the addition of Griffey would have wrecked the chemistry of the club. Williams may or may not have thought the same thing, but he ended up taking a pass on Griffey. Instead, he picked up Blum, which had everyone in Chicago scratching their heads. Apparently, Williams knew that Blum would hit that homer last night. It was amusing to see Blum in the dugout tonight with a huge grin on his face. Had the Sox acquired Griffey, Joe Crede would have been gone. That would have been cold. Joe has a long history with the Sox and has been playing with two herniated disks. Thank God it didn't happen.
