A great idea Rock.We need someone with natural gas pipeline experience to comment. The idea could lead to filtering 401 traffic thru various sized cylindrical tunnels to capture the air flow, like a pea shooter, but the cars or trucks are the self propelled peas...down hill of course<ggg>

Cold Energy ..

I wonder if there are any existing abandoned or
soon to be underutilized oil or natural gas
pipelines of sufficient diameter, length, and
elevation change to test this idea/concept ???

Was there a "breeze" blowing thru the Alaska
pipeline while it was under construction and the
ends open to the atmosphere ???

If this concept is valid, why not use TBMs ( tunnel
boring machines ) and run the conduit/pipeline below
ground ... at least we'd get some geothermal energy
from it if the pressure differential wind concept proves
to be bogus <gg> .. avoids the right of way problems too ..

Triff ..

>>Flagstaff and Tucson, Arizona, with an elevation difference of 3,700 feet, separated by 105 miles<<

It's actually 260 miles from Flagstaff to Tucson.
