Because they have a higher standard and tend to be more universally understood and accepted. Theft and murder for example are illegal everywhere in the world. Child custody on the other hand is a very different issue.

I am not trying to make it impossible to conduct international business (which is what your suggestion will do). Nor do I believe that the law of US of A should rule supreme over all humanity or else we will boycott them. Nor do I believe that "paying decent wages" is a principle that can be deciphered for each country (or is even worthy of fighting over).

All I am asking for is to block the loophole where a company may escape criminal acts by simply relocating to another country while benefiting from US consumers. This alone, will be hard enough to fight for, but will be possible to win.
