Associated Press

More than half the North Carolina military members surveyed in the latest Elon University poll don't like the way President Bush is handling his job and the war in Iraq.

The survey results were released today.

Of the 539 adults surveyed, nearly 53 percent of military members said they strongly disapproved or disapproved of Bush's handling of his job. And 56 percent of that same group said they strongly disapproved or disapproved of his handling of the Iraq war.

Overall, slightly more than 53 percent of those surveyed did not approve of Bush's job performance, while 57 percent didn't approve of his handling of the Iraq war.

The telephone poll was conducted between Monday and Thursday and has a margin of error for the entire sample of plus or minus four-point-three percentage points.

Sad, but, I actually half expected you to avoid my question entirely and dwell only on the answer I provided. Is avoidance the only card you have to play? Even a yes/no answer would have been *something*.

You know Ed, it's actually kind of frustrating for me to post here, there appears to be no one capable of debating me to a level that causes me *creative tension*. Quite boring actually, all I seem to get in response is complete avoidance, or name calling instead of thoughtful expressions of ideas related to the subject at hand.

This thread misses Steven and JohnM. At least they made me think before posting.

Until and unless you're able to put some reasonable thoughts together dealing with the question I asked. Discussing the issue is a waste of time. Why, because both issues are linked together. Should the minority be the harbinger of how those questions are answered in a democracy, or should the process of elections and voting be the answer? You can't avoid that question and expect to gain wisdom on the questions of war or peace.

It's as simple as that.

Yes, this time it is truly simple. :-)
