Ratty,

we got a weird one going on in Boston. Theo Epstein, 32 year old general manager phenom turned down a contract offer of a $1.2 million from the Red Sox. Things are turning strange in the Hot Stove League already.

Bah humbug; how many daze to spring training?

That's what I've been thinking.

Soon we will be talking about the possible deals
in the works and dreaming of next season.

One thing that struck me sort of odd was how the
corporate big wigs have commercialized the entire
victory celebration.

It just seems so orchestrated and silly.

It took them about three seconds to get the
celebrating ball players into their "Special
World Series Champion" hats and shirts.

Some guy in a suit runs on the field and say's
"Hey put down your teammate for a second and put
on this here tee shirt and hat."

I mean, I saw Ozzy Guillian having to remove
his Nice Sox hat and replace it with this silly
looking WS hat before he could start his
on-the-field interview.

Then within a minute they cut to commercial and they
have a 1-800 number up to order the new hats and shirts.

Also, what is the deal with the plastic sheets hung up
in the locker room? The champagne pouring seems
so lack luster at times and forced.
"Here is your designated Champagne Pouring Area."

And WS MVP Jermaine Dye thanking "Chevrolet" for
the new car.
It felt like a NASCAR winners circle.

I dunno. It just seems so darn commercialized.
The victory celebration seems tainted.
