You didn't answer the question: what "record" did he supposedly "set" with his Presidential pardons?

(Nice slip-away attempt, though Peter!)

As far as 'pardoning drug dealers', I doubt that any modern President will exceed the high-water mark set by Bush the First --- when he pardoned the Pakistani native who was caught coming into La Guardia airport with over $1,000,000 worth of heroin on his person.... :)

As far as "...he needed someone more egregiously wrong to take the heat off of pardoning Susan McDougall." I can only ask: WHAT 'heat'?

I always thought that polling consistently showed her to be regarded fairly sympathetically by the public.... what exactly was her great crime, anywho?

Re: Marc Rich.... ('Ya should also give a little credit to his great lawyer, who helped secure his pardon! Without the excellent lawyering by Scooter Libby, the pardon probably wouldn't have happened.)

Still... as far as the number of felons pardoned by a two-term President (gotta be fair in comparing apples-to-apples... Bush II hasn't had his full 8 years yet. Most of the 'questionable' pardons happen in the last days as a Prez is on his way out), I think Reagan's total still exceeds Clinton's.
