re: I never said nuke Mecca.

I could do the search... it sure sounded like that to me.

re: That is a far cry from Muslim terrorists who would nuke one of our cities just for the hell of it.

Not really. What if a Muslim pulls up the posts on this thread about turning Arab land into glass? Do they think that's a "joke", or do they take that as seriously as you take the threats from the Muslim terrorists? Is one more credible than the other?

You ask, "who is more capable?". The folks that talk about turning Arabs lands into glass are the supporters of the power in the US. Talk about nuking Mecca; what country is capable of doing that?

You see, from their perspective, they have more to fear from us then we from them.

And when we talk about "glass" or nuking Mecca on a worldwide public forum, there is no difference (to them) than the threats you hear from the terrorists. It's just as real to them as it is to you. You are their terrorist, just as frightening.

So it would be a good idea if we all grew up a bit, and started acting like responsible adults. The Muslim people that want to nuke a US city are a VERY slight minority. Hopefully the idiot US citizens that want to "glass" Arab lands are a very slight minority.

Let's be a little more careful with our rhetoric... because in the end sensible people don't want to "nuke" anyone.

I never said nuke Mecca. There was that Senator who said that we should threaten to nuke Mecca, if any of our cities were nuked by a Muslim terrorist. That seemed like a good idea to me, because there is nothing that these Muslims seem to care about. They don't care about their own lives and they don't care about the lives of children or innocents. So how do you find something that they care about to produce a kind of leverage that acts as a deterrent? Well, religion is the only thing they care about. So this senator said that we should threaten to nuke Mecca as a deterrent capability and I said it was worth considering.

You are looking at the Muslims who are the radical fringe and projecting them onto the entire Muslim population. Do you believe Pat Robertson represents the average American? Do you think the soldiers at abu Graib represent the average American soldiers? They don't. And the Muslims who get all the press don't represent the average Muslim either.
