I see where Canada has "opened discussions" with Asian nations to increase trade ties. Be very interesting if they sign China up as a major buyer of oil.

One point that i believe many politicians in the U.S. probably fail to comprehend is that Canada already has some very close connections to Asia through the many Asian business people who reside in communities in Toronto and Vancouver. In my own circle of friends, I probably know more people who regularly fly back and forth to Hong Kong than those who travel to the U.S. Imo, the ties are growing stronger with each passing year. Bad trade deals with the U.S. are going over like a lead balloon up here -- with everyone in all parts of the country, and not just in the lumber towns. The general consensus is that if we can't get a fair deal while trading with the U.S., why bother when there's a whole world out there that will buy our lumber, oil, steel and other products.
